How Erium helps companies make better use of their data with their AI software

Requirements analysis
Front-end development
Backend restructuring

The project goal

Erium GmbH increases the profitability of Data Scientists. For this purpose, the team develops the B2B software Halerium, which supports data scientists in converting their company's knowledge into machine learning models. With Halerium, companies empower their Data Scientists to execute projects more efficiently.

The process: with UX processes to a fast MVP that convinces investors

Thanks to our combined expertise in UX design and development, we were already able to set up the software architecture during the requirements elicitation phase. Thus, a functional and presentable product was created within a very short time and with a minimal budget. And one of the most important points: the needs of users are in focus through user research and UX design!

Agile approach for the MVP

An agile approach was essential to iterate quickly and test the results immediately with users.

Review and challenge assumptions

For example, the rapid iterations in the UX process resulted in changes to the initially defined requirements. Our UX research revealed a shift in the target users and thus the goal of the application - such findings are part of agile work and show that even basic assumptions can be revised to build the best possible software.

User focus is the key

Building a deep technical understanding was the be-all and end-all for our designers. We took the necessary time for this, which paid off! The deep understanding of users, the context of the application, and the associated requirements allowed us to make informed product decisions and even provide the impetus to restructure the backend in the end.

Outcome phase 1

Paper prototype developed, knowledge gathered, backend restructured, product-market fit worked out more strongly.

Close collaboration & a constant transfer of knowledge

We were particularly impressed by how efficiently the Erium team, together with our designers and developers, used the agile way of working to achieve useful results as quickly as possible. Through joint retrospectives, the team was able to reflect on the current way of working and implement improvements directly. To our delight, this also resulted in a public workshop on our agile collaboration.

Communication, teamwork and diversity of ideas

By coming on board early on, we were able to optimally support the Erium team in agile product development. And that both through short iterations in the design phase and through efficient implementation in the frontend. Short feedback loops, direct communication and space for new ideas and different perspectives.

An MVP that convinces new investors

At the end of the first project phase, there was a solid product that Erium was able to successfully use in the search for investors. We can honestly say that the Erium team has developed into an agile team and continues to expand and make the best use of the processes they have created together. Really great!

Outcome phase 2

UX knowledge passed on, MVP developed, investor:s convinced.

Intensive knowledge transfer and a paper prototype to generate knowledge

Using paper prototyping allowed us to quickly visualize and iterate ideas before going digital. The combination of deep knowledge transfer and agile prototyping led to the creation of a highly functional and user-friendly interface for Erium's AI tool.

"With interfacewerk we have developed a great interface for HALerium. We learned a lot about users, sharpened and revised assumptions about the product. Today, thanks to the right UX processes, we are quite a bit further along in working in a truly agile way."
